FIGHTING ALL THE WAY TO THE CHEQURED FLAG

It was a fight against time to get the New Lancer EVO RS prepared for the Speed 2012 Championship Round I as the car arrived Sri Lanka just a week before the event. Dinesh could barely manage to report on time for the qualifying session on Saturday with only 70% of the work being completed in the car.

Dinesh with the limited set up of the car for qualifying managed to secure 4th grid out of the 11 drives. This was the lowest qualifying grid that he have been placed at the Pannala track.

The crew of Dinesh worked over night to fix the New Lancer EVO RS to its proper race spec and Dinesh was ready for the race on Sunday. He was placed in 4th position for nearly 7 laps and within the last 3 laps he managed to win the race in a photo finish and placing Pasindu Peiris in to 2nd position. Darin Weerasinghe in his STi X finished 3rd in the race.

With this victory, Dinesh secured 10 points for the 2012 National Tarmac Championship and also 10 points for the Speed 2012 Championship. The next event for Dinesh will be Sigiriya Rally Cross to be held on March 04, 2012 which will be the first test for the New Lancer EVO RS with the 34mm restrictor on gravel surface. Dinesh has never won the Sigiriya Rally Cross and will do his best to make his debut win in 2012.
